What do you look for in a truck? How do you compare and evaluate the design specs? Well, the dedicated folks at MotorTrend publication have made things easier for you by evaluating the trucks for you and putting its stamp of approval with the title of Truck of the Year. They spend a lot of time driving trucks and Ram now has had the distinction of garnering this award in back to back, twice, once in 2013 and 2014 and now in 2019 and 2020, 2021 and now 2022. This year it is the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500. It is fierce competition in the world of pickup trucks but with the track record that Ram has developed it has very much positioned Ram as a brand to be reckoned with. And it is not just the reputation that makes buyers confident in Ram trucks, it is the knowledge of the rigorous testing MotorTrend did to establish the label of Truck of the Year and apply it to the 2022 Ram 2500 and 3500. At MotorTrend testing is a serious business, what with the numerous evaluations and tests on multiple courses to glean some very accurate stats with which to compare their subjects.

MotorTrend selects the trucks they want to consider based on value, class, and the way the truck has impacted the automotive industry. Like all of their test subjects MotorTrend evaluated the 2022 Ram 2500 and 3500 in terms of safety, engineering, design and efficiency as well as value and performance. When MotorTrend put the  Ram 2500 and 3500 those tests they came up with very clear results. In the words of MotorTrend’s Editor-in-Chief Edward Loh,

Some of the specific reasons Ram trucks were selected hinged on the improvements and design upgrades made to the Rams Similar to the upgrades on the Ram 1500 which also made the grade. For example, a large touch screen for control not to mention entertainment. There is also additional seating with increased legroom. These Ram trucks have the largest space yet for storage in addition to a playload capacity of 7, 680 pounds.

The Cummins l-6 turbo diesel engine certainly doesn’t hurt either. It allows the Ram pick-ups a 1,000 lb-ft of torque plus an impressive towing capacity of 35,100 lbs. The Ram trucks has made its presence known among competitors. The Ford F-series may lead in sales overall but Ram has outsold the Chevrolet Silverado. With such consistent recognition from MotorTrend award Ram will continue to be the one to watch.
