2019 Ram 1500 Won Best Interior Award| Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto

840 × 560

Living in Oakville or Toronto, it seems likely that you spend a good chunk of time behind the wheel of your vehicle. And while it’s always exciting to see a sweet-looking pickup waiting for you in your driveway or in the grocery store parking lot, it’s what’s inside that counts on long commutes. The days of sterile, style-free interiors in trucks are long gone. Drivers who prefer a pickup truck expect the same level of comfort and style on display in sedans and SUVs, and the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 was designed with that in mind. There’s good reason why this truck is winning awards from some of the toughest juries in the industry.
Every trim offers a unique design. The raised-up centre stack nudges a bit closer to the driver to make room for the jumbo 12-inch touchscreen that can be a full-screen navigation map (as an example) or lets you view two apps simultaneously in split-screen form using Uconnect 4C NAV. The all-new toggle switch bank just below the touchscreen allows for physical control of specific features as needed. Driver comfort is enhanced by a gain of nearly one inch of seat height and a new telescoping steering wheel. Toronto and Oakville, get comfortable! We like it.

In the past, you had to compromise decent air flow for a lot of in-cab noise. The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 features an HVAC system with 25 per cent more air flow, minus the roar. Passengers in the cab enjoy 50 per cent more airflow than previous models provided, and an active noise cancellation system on 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 equipped models, along with acoustic glass bring ambient sounds down to a sweet and low 67.1 db. It’s the quietest Dodge Ram 1500 ever made.

With 151 liters of interior storage, the 2019 Ram 1500 blows the closest competition away with an impressive almost-100 percent increase in storage capacity. Boosted up from 23 to 39 liters, the redesigned center console features more than 12 different storage combinations. The docking area with optional wireless charging now widens up to store your small tablet or smartphone. Tuck that 3-position sliding cup holder tray away under the center armrest, and you’ll have access to a deep storage tub designed to hold a 15-inch laptop. Rear passengers can enjoy two additional cup holders as well as a tablet holder. Because hot chocolate and YouTube make every traffic jam a bit more fun, right?

There are FIVE USB ports in center console – three up front, two in back. Three of those ports are full-function and can communicate directly with the Uconnect interface. Two three-pronged 115-volt household plugs (one in the center stack and one at the rear of the center console) and an additional 115-volt plug located in the RamBox triple the number of outlets featured on the previous model. You’re now able to handle up to 400 watts. You did say you wanted a powerful truck, GTA drivers.

The 2019 Ram 1500’s cab is four inches longer and the rear of the cab is pushed an additional two inches. Front and rear doors are now one inch larger on Crew Cab configurations, while the rear door is one inch shorter on Quad Cab models. In addition to sporting the largest cab in the segment, the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 offers your passengers eight degrees of slide-recline with best-in-class leg room of 45.1 inches. The flat-load floor is bookended by two Ram Bins, now 5.5 inches longer than the previous Ram 1500. Stow your four-inch drop hitch, keep cargo out of sight and make sure that interior stays clean with these handy, large-sized bins. Each bin has a tie down to keep cargo secure in transit.

The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 design team seems to have taken a good look at everything, right down to the key fob, making it slightly bigger to allow for new function keys including the power-release tailgate. Higher trim levels have specially branded fobs, and overall battery life has been improved to last up to six years. Each trim level of the largest cab in the segment features well-chosen, unique interior colors and premium materials, and each model makes its own signature statement with paint colours, wheels, badging, grilles and more opportunities for customization.
