The third most populous city in the Greater Golden Horseshoe region, Brampton has a population of 593638 people. Thanks to its proximity to Pearson International Airport, lower-than- Toronto land costs and friendlier corporate tax structure, the city is home to a number of corporate head offices. While 51% of residents speak English as their first language, the second most common mother tongue is Punjabi. Brampton also has the youngest median age in the GTA at 33.7. Both sports and the arts thrive in this community, and it is also an excellent destination for tasting foods from around the globe. Among many well-known Bramptonians: comedian Russell Peters, singer Alessia Cara and award-winning author Rohinton Mistry.
The city that began as a village in 1853 has now absorbed numerous other small villages to form one large community well-served by nearby expressways, local transit, excellent health care facilities and event venues. Brampton is a thriving, family-oriented place to call home.
